Soaring cost of EU to hit British taxpayers

UKIP West Midlands MEP Mike Nattrass says the British economy will be badly hit by soaring contributions to the EU.

With the Office of National Statistics (ONS) announcing that Britain has come out of recession Mr Nattrass fears our fragile economy could be severely held back by increased contributions we will pay to the EU.

The Government has admitted that British contributions to the EU are to increase in 2010 by almost £1 billion.
This news has been greeted with dismay from Mr Nattrass who believes Britain should withdraw from the European Union.

“ At a time when people are having their homes repossessed and when businesses are going to the wall we are paying out more to the EU – it’s simply ridiculous,” said Mr Nattrass.

“ The EU is costing us all dearly. Most of our laws are made in Brussels when they should be made in Westminster. The cost of EU membership is not just monetary it also threatens our sovereignty.

“ We should make our own decisions and manage our own affairs in Westminster. UKIP is the only party committed to fighting for the interests of Britain and we are the only party fighting for Britain to pull out of the European Union.
“ Britain is weighed down by costly EU directives and EU bureaucracy. We should say No to the EU and say no to no say,” he added.
